The Challenge:

This kitchen was built in 1973 it is in a commercial high-rise building that by nature is a commercial project despite being a residential structure. The ceiling has radiant heating wires in it that work so lighting was going to be difficult. The elevator was shared with residents.

The Idea:

Rework the galley kitchen to open it up to the living room dining area. Update lighting and all the plumbing fixtures. Remodel 2 bathrooms simultaneously.

The Solution:

We eliminated the kitchen and expanded it length-wise. We kept the orientation of appliances but they were replaced. We kept the electric water heater. Updated lighting, added a peninsula to sit at.

The Details:

The client worked on the house at the same time doing much of the demo of wallpaper. A very artistic tile highlight behind the sink. Cool Flooring, a wine fridge was incorporated into the set.
