The Challenge: The bathroom was original and had a series of complicating factors for the owners who now have new accessibility issues. The wheelchair was banging into the walls and the bathtub was too difficult to navigate with a helper. The original idea was to eliminate the built-ins and enlarge the space dramatically. In order the keep the budget in line and not change the character of the home, the clients elected to go with our plan rather than others.
The Idea: To leave the layout and overall size the same, enlarge the entry door, replace the tub with a walk in shower and relocate the vintage sink slightly so the door would open all the way.
The Solution: We relocated the electrical switches, added a 10″ solar tube added updated the lighting. We also added a hand held shower with the option to install a stationary shower head in the future.
The Details: 5 piece roll in shower by Custom Bath Solutions, grab bars, Marmolium flooring, medicine cabinet, insulated exterior walls with foam board and batt insulation. Hansgrohe shower valve.
