Small Kitchen Expansion
The Challenge
This kitchen was cramped. As is often the case the client had discovered a great solution prior to our arrival. Relocating the laundry room behind a pocket door and removing a wall would allow the kitchen to expand. Refacing (vs. replacing) the cabinets was what was going to keep the project on budget.
The Idea
Eliminate multiple walls and some plumbing. There were also electrical issues to contend with. Create a pocket door with a window in it, and match the granite.
The Solution
We eliminated a wall in the kitchen, added a soffit to continue the existing look and feel. We added a pocket door and additional lighting. The cabinets were relocated and new ones made to harmonize with the existing kitchen cabinets. Granite was replaced as a result of a heartbreaking disintegration of a matching slab on the fabrication table.
The Details
Refaced cabinets, new exhaust hood, new main and prep sinks, relocated laundry behind custom solid core half light pocket door. Smoke detectors and CO detector in the home tied together. Down LE lighting, Custom niche over stove
