Ripped From the Headlines

The EPA

9-12-2012 The EPA has withheld implementation of using LSWP on commercial building for 3 more years.  Rules were set to go in place this month and be implemented in February but that is not going to happen now. The general feeling among the remodeling industry is relief, however the health and safety as well as the scientific community is that of frustration and dismay. The LSWP rules of RRP have been on the books since 1992 according to Kathy Lauckner a professor and prominent lead advocate at UNLV says “What’s a few more years”. As a certified RRP firm and risk assessor for lead based paint myself, I am aggravated by those that are not following the rules. The EPA has not been enforcing their own rule and has been bluffing the industry into compliance. Not a reasonable strategy when it comes to the health and welfare of the general public.
