I love helping people maintain their homes. I write about it, I crow about my successes. There are a million reasons to avoid doing the necessary care and feeding of your home, so I am offering a service that might be right for you. Here is what LevcoCare, our service proposition, is all about. No matter how many Gen Z’ers get warehoused in apartments, I doubt homeownership is going away in my lifetime.
Join Or Die
I recently saw a movie called “Join or Die” with a bunch of my Rotarian friends. Oh man, what a great show! It described the value of participation in service organizations and the decline of participation over time. I joined Rotary years ago to fill the void I felt from leaving my EMS career. The message that resonated with me is about the benefits of participating in an international service organization. Longevity and quality of life were clearly documented as benefits of belonging.
Naturally, my mind wandered a bit off course, and I connected the dots to how we interact with our homes and our responsibility to them. Houses need attention, or they will age prematurely and eventually fall apart. Providing your home with regular maintenance and, better yet, preventive maintenance will keep your home happy and healthy. We can’t guarantee you will live longer, but we can make a case for prolonging the useful life of your home.
What About My Home Warranty?
Do you have a home warranty you pay for annually? Lots of people do. It is a way to cross your fingers and kick the can down the road, providing you with a false sense of security. I say this because it allows an excuse to neglect their home maintenance responsibilities. You know that no matter what, your insurance company will come to the rescue to bail you out should something catastrophic happen. Your home warranty may be beneficial in rare cases. Once you need it, the proof will be as we say is in the pudding. Most people I know who have had to deal with a claim hate them. Even the realtor who gave it to you in the first place is sheepish about buying them.
LevcoCare is not a substitute for caring for your home, but it may make you want to ditch your home warranty.

Maintenance required
LevcoCare For Life
If your home were as advanced as your car, it would tell you when maintenance was needed. We are not there yet. I suppose there is an app for that, but I have not found a great one yet. Without a doubt, we are remembering to get service at predictable intervals, which works better than a sticky note somewhere.
Homes are typically amazingly complex shelters that bring us joy. I love my home and, just like my kids, I want the best for them. My home provides me with shelter and comfort, it has my style, and it is always there to greet me after a long, hard day at work. It deserves my regular attention to prevent problems and ensure it will be there for me when I need it. I know that if my needs change, I can remodel to suit them. I understand that it pays off in the long run. Examples of this extracted joy are everywhere. Had I not added on when the kids were young, I would have missed out on so many wonderful experiences.
Living Longer is an euphemism for what our plan offers. Extracting the Joy is my half-full answer; Avoiding disasters of neglect or DIY fixes that go awry is my half-empty answer. Fear tactics typically lead to more certain decisions. So if that is what makes you call. I am here for you.
Our Program Is Not For Everyone
Here are a few common personality profiles we encounter.
- Some buy all the tools that the batteries fit. They watch YouTube on how to fix things. These guys know, or think they know it all, and do not need my help.
- Some are willing to get some tools, but just having them doesn’t mean they will be used. These guys could use a hand and some help, but mostly advice.
- Others are terrified of their homes. They buy a new one every decade to avoid maintenance. These guys need us badly and would stay in the neighborhood longer if they hired us.
- Most have some skills and abilities, but don’t have the time and want the work done professionally.
Who knows why some people get the home maintenance bug, and others are immune? Is it genetic? Did they learn from their father? Challenged by a spouse? Run over by a big box store advertising? I know, it’s those 24-7 home improvement shows. Those darn things cause more problems. UGH, In my case, it came naturally to me, passed down by the men in the family.
