Only licensed Remodeling Contractor in Boise

In an effort to bring clarity to the confusion over licensing VS. registration of remodeling contractors in this state. The Professional Building Contractors association was formed. Established in Eastern Idaho, they recently reached out to The South West to see if their idea or voluntary licensure of remodeling contractors would hold water.

“I jumped on the idea because the state refuses to do anything about it”. Almost every subcontractor I use is licensed but not the guy who is responsible for the remodeling project as a whole”. As of 12-16-14, I am the only licensed contractor in Boise. here is a link to an article on the subject.

Congratulations on being the first to be licensed! Based on the services you offer stated on your web site, I take it that you don’t work as a general contractor on new residential construction?

True, we are primarily a residential remodeling firm at the moment. We find remodeling extremely challenging and rewarding. That being said, building new custom home is not outside of our abilities. Do you have an architect that you are working with? I would enjoy talking to you about what stage you are at in the process.

I’ve a friend who’s an architect and I’ve a lot in Cascade that I’m thinking of building a small cabin or a small house. The lot has a septic system installed, and approved for a one bedroom house, it also has a well, and a power pole. I’m looking for options because I don’t know whether that I should consider building or just sell the lot and buy an existing cabin or a small house because I was told that it’s very difficult to find a reliable general contractor to work in Cascade if you don’t have a big budget.
