Do we really have to sweat? No, but it does happen from time to time. Sweat Equity is the labor that you want to bring to the table. We admire folks who want to work on their own homes.

We understand that not everyone has the time, talent, ability, or tools. That being said, we also understand that being involved in your home remodeling project has the potential to bring much joy, learning, and pride.

At Levco, we offer the chance to work on their homes to our clients and have been amazed at the results. From installing tiles, to painting. to doing demolition with the family, to the clean up at the end of the day.

We often hear something to the effect of “I would be doing this addition myself if I only had the time.” While this may be true, clients rarely have a handle on what all is involved in a remodeling project. The days of just doing it yourself without rules are still alive out on the frontier, but not so much in the city.

There are obviously ground rules to your involvement, like we have to be notified and prepared to include you. We need to make sure you are being safe and not using our tools. Most importantly you must know what you’re doing, and do it correctly.

The Curry Rule

All client labor is volunteered and considered a gift or donation to the project no matter how much or how little. Work done that delays the project or requires alterations shall be dealt with using the Change Order process to compensate us for our time to correct problems. If for some reason the only way to afford a remodeling project is to do some of the work, then this is a clear reason not to do business with us.

You do the lions share and I will finish it

Levco is often asked to start a project for a client and they will finish it because “I am a finish carpenter”, or “I just don’t have time to do the hard part” it is simple, NO! Levco does not now and will never allow this to happen. Any confusion about this subject is over.

Is this a big deal?

Cleanup

Cleanup

Our clients certainly think so. Talk about pride in ownership. It doesn’t get any better than this. From moving furniture, to crushing boxes, to watering the lawn when the sprinklers are disabled, to loading the dump truck. We have even had a client offer to help during the framing stage. Just because it is work to us, doesn’t mean it can’t or shouldn’t be fun for you.

This is just one more thing that sets Levco apart from other remodelers: to be inclusive and understand that we are not remodeling to you, we are remodeling with you and for you. When done correctly there is little time or place for “smoke & mirrors” That’s our angle. The “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain” philosophy is not how we operate. Remodeling in our eyes is an art form, not an exclusive good ol’ boy’s club.
